Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Senator for Sokoto South, has declared that his move from the People’s Democratic Party to the All-Democratic Congress (ADC) marks the most promising step for his political journey.
Tambuwal shared this conviction on Thursday as he launched Ramadan support for his movement’s members at his Sokoto home.
“As you are aware, yesterday I defected from PDP to ADC. That decision was born out of extensive consultations.”
He revealed that more than 1,900 leaders from the movement took part in the consultations, ultimately reaching a united decision.
Tambuwal outlined that stakeholders weighed three options: remaining in the PDP amid its turmoil, joining the ruling APC, or charting a new course with the ADC.
He said the stakeholders stood together in their conviction that the ADC offered the best path forward.
The Senator urged his supporters to register with the ADC and join in building a strong party for the 2027 Nigerian general elections.
He stressed the importance of forging a party robust enough to compete powerfully in the 2027 elections.
Reflecting on the wave of governors joining the APC, he remarked that it was no guarantee for electoral victory. He shared, “In 2023, ten sitting governors, myself among them, vied for senatorial seats, but only seven emerged victorious at the polls.”
