The Senior Special Assistant on Media to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Yusuf Abubakar Dingyadi, has defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying the temporary hardship experienced by Nigerians was an inevitable sacrifice required to prevent the country’s economy from sliding into a deeper crisis.
Dingyadi made the remarks in a statement issued on Saturday to commemorate the first anniversary of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as the National Chairman of the ruling party.
He said while the reforms had placed short-term pressure on citizens, they were already beginning to yield positive results, pointing to ongoing infrastructure development and government intervention programmes as evidence that the administration’s economic policies were gradually producing the desired outcomes.
According to him, the implementation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda has strengthened public confidence in the APC and positioned the party on a firm footing ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APC media aide also credited Yilwatda with repositioning the party since assuming office at a critical period, describing his leadership as consultative, inclusive and focused on strengthening internal democracy.
He said the National Chairman had successfully promoted reconciliation among aggrieved members, improved cooperation among the National Working Committee, party elders and other stakeholders, and fostered greater unity across the party.
Dingyadi noted that the APC had also recorded improvements in its internal administration, with the National Secretariat operating more efficiently through enhanced accountability, innovation and organisational discipline.
He added that the party had broadened its engagement with youths, women, persons with disabilities and other interest groups, while consolidating its structures across wards, local governments and states.
“The APC has witnessed renewed unity, expanding nationwide support and stronger internal cohesion under the leadership of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda,” he stated.
Expressing confidence in the party’s future, Dingyadi said the achievements recorded within the past year had laid a solid foundation for the APC to secure another electoral victory in 2027.
He urged Nigerians to continue supporting the ruling party, describing it as a platform committed to democratic principles, national development and inclusive governance.
Dingyadi further assured that the APC would remain open to new members and continue strengthening its internal structures while working to deliver greater dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
