Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto has reiterated his administration’s zero tolerance for corruption, highlighting a welcoming environment for workers and a commitment to top-notch public services.
He shared these remarks when he hosted Permanent Secretaries, Executive Secretaries, and Directors-General to an Iftar gathering in Sokoto.
“As administrative heads and accounting officers in your respective MDAs, you must always observe prudence, accountability, and transparency in your transactions,” the Governor said.
“You must also work in synergy with your commissioners and special advisers to ensure the effective and efficient running of your MDAs.”
He cautioned civil servants to avoid absenteeism, laziness, and tardiness, urging them to uphold high professional standards.
The Sokoto Governor encouraged them to match the government’s efforts to enhance their welfare with dedication and responsibility.
These efforts range from timely payment of salaries and pensions to settling outstanding gratuities left by the previous administration and reinstating monthly imprest for MDAs throughout the state.
He stressed that ongoing training and retraining of civil servants would remain a top priority to cultivate a more capable and efficient workforce across the state.
State Head of Civil Service, Abdulkadir Ahmed Mohamed, lauded Governor Aliyu’s commitment and consistent support for the civil service.
“To whom much is given, much is expected,” he stated, “therefore, we must reciprocate this gesture by the Governor.”
