The Sokoto Professional Network (SPN) has trained 100 young graduates on essential ICT ffocusing on Google productivity packages to prepare them for professional and entrepreneurial success.
The training in collaboration with Dan Anini Digital Solution drew participants from Sokoto indigenous youths across the state.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar who was represented by Sarkin Gagi, Alhaji Sani Umar Jabbi He commended SPN for its foresight and commitment to empowering the youth.
He called on the beneficiaries to deploy their commitments toward achieving the primary goal of the training for the benefit of the society.
The Special Guest of the event and Commissioner for Innovation and Digital Economy, Bashar Umar Kwabo, described the initiative as a valuable complement to the state government’s ongoing digital skills drive.
“What we have seen today is truly remarkable. It shows that the responsibility of development does not rest with the government alone. When organizations like this join hands, we can achieve the unimaginable”
He said that Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration has made digital skills development a top priority, with a medium-term strategy already in motion under the Sokoto State Innovation and Digital Economy Development Plan (2023–2026).
According to him, one of the first pillars of Aliyu’s administration is digital skills training, adding that a program had already been launched to train 10,000 youths across Sokoto State in various digital technologies.
The Chairman of the Network, Engr. Zayyanu Tambari Yabo said the training is designed to equip beneficiaries with the skills needed to function effectively in their professions.
He added the theme was carefully selected to apply digital tools in communication, collaboration, and service delivery which are key competencies for career growth and professional success.
“This training is part of a broader capacity-building initiative aimed at equipping youth with practical digital skills critical to today’s workforce.
“Thile Google productivity tools that will help our graduate members become better professionals and successful business owners.
He underscored the importance of investing in young people, describing them as the “engine of growth” for any society due to their energy, adaptability, and willingness to learn.
“Youth are vibrant and willing to learn, unlearn, and relearn. With the right guidance, they can be molded into effective agents of change and development,” he added.
Yabo further revealed that the Network is set to expand its programs to include women, vulnerable groups, and other underserved segments of the society.
The Chairman said since the inception, the Network has implemented several youth empowerment programmes targeting the youth from the state.
