As part of efforts to address the housing shortfall, Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has laid the foundation for a 500-unit luxury housing estate near Sokoto’s new city.

The projects have funding from the European Union (EU), the Government of Nigeria in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the Danish Refugee Council (DRC).

The workshop was organised by Humint Development Consult Limited in partnership with Women’s Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative (WRAPA), National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC) and Peering Advocacy and Advancement Centre in Africa (PAACA) and supported by the MacArthur Foundation.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto has described the ongoing 40 million gallons daily water project as a major step forward by the Governor Ahmad Aliyu-led government in solving the water scarcity challenges it inherited.
