Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto has described his victory at the Supreme Court as the victory was for the entire state and not for him or the party.
On Thursday, January 25, the Supreme Court validated his victory as Governor of Sokoto State, dismissing an appeal filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Saidu Umar.
Addressing Sokoto residents on his return to the state after the verdict in Abuja, Governor Aliyu Sokoto also said the apex court’s judgment was evidence of the judiciary’s impartiality and fairness,
He added it was a testimony of the Sokoto people’s faith in his ability to move the state forward.
The governor was grateful to God and everyone who helped guarantee justice in the case.
“I want to appreciate Mr President Bola Tinubu and his Vice Senator Kashim Shettima for ensuring that justice is delivered accordingly, without any interference,” he stated.
“Thank you to the judges for ensuring that justice is delivered. I also appreciate my legal team. I also want to use the opportunity to appreciate my father, my mentor and political leader, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, for his belief in me.”
The governor urged the opposition parties to work with him to improve the state.
