A group, Association for Grassroot Support, Creativity for Women, Youth, Children, and Vulnerable has provided food assistance to the needy in Sokoto State.
The beneficiaries include people with disabilities, internally displaced persons, women, and children aimed at reducing hardships faced by the vulnerable groups.
Leader of the initiative, Hajiya Aisha Madawaki Yagana said the move was aimed at showing care and support to those affected by insecurity and displacement.
She added that it would complement the state government’s efforts in prioritizing their welfare.
She noted that the support was the third intervention by the association, having previously provided clothing and food relief to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state
Madawaki added that they understand the difficult circumstances the individuals are facing, and that was their way of standing with them and offering support.
She expressed optimism that the little effort brings some relief.
Madawaki however, reaffirmed the association’s commitment to supporting grassroots communities as well as ensuring that women, youth, children, and vulnerable individuals.
A cross section of the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the Association. They however commended the group humanitarian efforts.
The beneficiaries also appealed to well-meaning individuals and organizations to emulate the initiative and contribute to assisting displaced and vulnerable populations.
The distribution exercise took place along Usman Faruk Secretariat and Ramin Kura Kasuwar Daji, where members of the AGSC team shared prepared Jollof rice with soft drinks.
