Boat Accident, Bandit Attacks: Sokoto Government assists victims with N100m, 408 bags of food items

As part of efforts to cushion the effects of recent unfortunate events in Sokoto, the State Government has donated over N 100,000,000 and 408 bags of assorted food items to families affected by bandit attacks and a boat mishap in Dinawa, Birjingo, and Gorau villages in the Wurno and Goronyo local government areas.

A high-powered state government delegation, led by the State APC Leader, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, disclosed this during condolence visits to the affected communities. He expressed profound sadness over the events that led to deaths and injuries.

The five injured people in Dinawa received N250,000 each and one bag each of rice, millet, and maize, while the families of the seven deceased people received N1 million each, two bags each of maize and millet, and one bag of rice, according to a statement by Abubakar Bawa, Director General of Media and Publicity at the Government House, Sokoto.

In a similar vein, the families of the three deceased individuals in Birjingo village got N1 million each, together with two bags of rice, millet, and maize, while the six injured individuals received N250,000 each, along with one bag of rice, millet, and maize.

The relatives of the 65 individuals who died in the boat accident at Gorau were given N1 million each, along with two bags of food, millet, and maize.

Senator Wamakko also pointed out that the state government had been supporting security agencies in their efforts to secure the state, including the provision of 62 armoured vehicles to them to support their operations.

He reiterated the state’s government’s commitment to supporting security agencies in their quest to curb the menace of insecurity in the state.

Senator Wamakko, who was hopeful that banditry would soon be eradicated, urged rural communities to continue their support for security agencies in achieving their objectives.

He pointed out the need to pray fervently for God’s intervention regarding insecurity and other challenges confronting Nigeria.
