Sokoto state Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal says he dropped his presidential ambition for a former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the nation’s interest.
He said it was out of the desire to save Nigeria from collapse and sacrifice for the nation’s development and unity.
Tambuwal stated this in Sokoto when a group of supporters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, paid him a thank you visit for the historical role he played in his emergence as the party’s flag bearer.
He underscored Atiku Abubakar’s ability to turn around the country’s fortunes, pledging to work towards his victory.
Earlier, the delegation leader, Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Kirfi (Wazirin Bauchi), said the visit was at the request of the PDP Presidential flag bearer in appreciation of the Tambuwal’s gesture.
He described the governor as a committed leader who places his people’s interests above his own.
According to him, it was also a demonstration of Tambuwal’s love for the unity of Northern Nigeria and the country.
