One hundred Sokoto youths have been empowered under the state government’s community development program.
They included 55 females and 45 males trained in tailoring skills to be self-reliant. Each beneficiary received a grant of N20000 and a tailoring machine at the graduation ceremony held at the Ministry of Local Government Affairs.
At the event, Governor Ahmed Aliyu said the skills acquisition initiative aligned with his 9-point agenda to rejuvenate the state.
The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon.Ibrahim Dadi Adare ,reiterated his government’s prioritisation of the development and progress of the teeming youths.
He said the state government would not relent in its efforts to empower youth and women.
The commissioner also highlighted the present administration’s commitment to the security and welfare of the people.
He noted the provision of vehicles to security agencies and training members of the Sokoto Guards as part of their concerted efforts towards a safe and secured Sokoto state while providing palliatives to cushion the hardship faced by the people.
The commissioner urged the people in the state to continue to support the governor in delivering on his campaign promises and providing the needed services to them.
In a remark, Alhaji Garba Aliyu, Special Adviser Community Development, Sokoto, disclosed the state government has been funding the department to provide required assistance towards completing various community-initiated projects.
“ I want to inform the general public that this is just the beginning of this program; soon, it will cover all parts of the 23 local government areas of the state,” he stated.
The Special Adviser solicited prayers for the governor’s success in his desire to improve the well-being of the people.
