Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has described the lack of effective monitoring of government programmes over the years as a major problem responsible for substandard and low-quality projects in Nigeria.
The governor, speaking during an ongoing inspection visit to state Ramadan feeding centres , emphasised that competent supervision of any project or programme is critical to quality service delivery.
He asserted: “What we are doing is not to witch hunt anybody but to see how these feeding centres are being run.”
He expressed satisfaction with the running of the feeding centres: “I’m actually impressed with what I have seen in terms of quality of food, sitting arrangement, and orderliness.”
However, the Sokoto helmsman emphasised the need for the feeding centres committees to ensure that security officers are deployed to the feeding centres.
He emphasised that security personnel at the feeding centres would help them run smoothly.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring the welfare of the state’s citizens, particularly the impoverished.
He urged the state’s people to continue supporting the Ramadan feeding program and other government programs to ensure their success.
