Alhaji Umaru Ajiya, APC Sokoto East Senatorial candidate, believes the recent wave of attacks sweeping the nation highlights the urgent need for a bold new strategy to address insecurity.
“We must take the war to the criminals in their hideouts; this defensive approach is no longer working,” he noted with concern.
“Our security forces need better intelligence, better equipment, and the political will to dominate.”
While addressing journalists in Sokoto, Ajiyan Isa stressed that security forces must shift to an offensive stance if the nation is to stamp out banditry and violent crime.
The immediate past Chief Finance Officer (CFO) of NNPCL Ltd pledged to make security his top priority if entrusted with the senatorial seat.
“My experience as CFO of NNPCL taught me how to track money. Nigerians deserve to know that every kobo voted for security is actually used to protect lives and property,” he stated.
He drew a direct line between insecurity, unemployment, and poverty, vowing to bring federal projects and jobs to Sokoto to dry up the pool from which criminals recruit.
Reflecting on Sokoto State’s current administration, he remarked that Governor Ahmad Aliyu stepped into office thoroughly prepared to lead as the state’s foremost citizen.
“Consequently, he is performing very well. So far, so good, I am happy with this development,” he stated.
Ajiya praised the Sokoto State Governor’s significant investments in security infrastructure, noting that these efforts have already produced visible, positive outcomes.
