The newly rehabilitated Mabera township road network in Sokoto State will help address the longstanding transportation challenges faced by commuters and residents. It is expected to boost economic activity by reducing travel time, lowering vehicle operating costs, and improving the movement of goods and services.
Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu noted this at the commissioning of the N4.4 billion road project by a former Zamfara Governor, Abdulaziz Yari who is also the Senator representing Zamfara West Zone.
“This moment is not merely about the concrete and asphalt beneath our feet; it is about the fulfilment of a promise,” he asserted.
“It is about our shared commitment to building a Sokoto State where infrastructure works for the people, connects communities, and unlocks economic potential.”
The governor reflected on the difficult condition of the road before his administration undertook its transformation.
“When we embarked on this project, the story of Mabera was one of challenges—of traffic gridlocks, of difficulties in getting goods to market, and of a community in need of a lifeline,” he pointed out.
“Today, we gather to write a new chapter. A chapter of ease, of access, and of renewed hope”
He thanked the people of Mabera, whose patience, cooperation, and steadfast support formed the foundation for the project’s success.
The Governor called the project a shining example of his administration’s steadfast commitment to strengthening the economy, improving infrastructure, and enhancing quality of life.
“Just as we have prioritised the construction and rehabilitation of feeder roads to reduce travel time and improve logistics in other zones, we are replicating that success here in Mabera,” he stated.
“Our strategy is simple but effective: build where there is need, invest where there is potential, and protect what matters most.”
He emphasised that lasting economic and social progress depends on reliable infrastructure.
“By investing in this road, we are not only easing movement today but also securing the economic prosperity of Mabera for tomorrow,” he added.
“We are creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, for new investments to spring up, and for the value of property in this area to rise significantly.”
In his remarks, Yari commended the Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu for prioritising the needs of the people through strategic infrastructural l renewal
He described it as a shining example of visionary governance, noting infrastructure as the heartbeat of development.
According to him, Governor Aliyu has proven that leadership is about results not rhetorics
Senator Yari also lauded former Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko for his fatherly role and mentorship.
He noted Senator Wamakko’s wise counsel and fatherly advice, as evident in the way Governor Ahmad Aliyu is executing meaningful developmental projects with a lasting impact on the lives of the people of Sokoto State.
Yari revealed that Senator Wamakko played a significant role in his achievements as governor of Zamfara State by providing wise counsel when they were both serving as governors.
